Gazi Issa (Isa) Bey Mosque - Skopje ...
Constructed in 1475/76. Founder was Issa (Isa) Bey, Commander of the Skopje district, grandson of Pasha Yigit Bey (1392-1414) the conqueror of Skopje. Issa Bey (1439-1463) was also the founder of Sarajevo and Novi Pazar. The Gazi Issa Bey Mosque was restored after the 1963 earthquake. The mosque has two eqal copulas and a porch with five cupolas and a monumental entrance in marble. The library of the Issa Bey’s medressa is one of the largest XVc libraries in Macedonia. Issa Bey in Skopje was also founder of Cifte Hammam and the shops around it, as well as of nearby Kursumli Han. The oldest tree in Skopje is in the court of the Issa Bey Mosque, probably planted in the same year with the construction of the mosque. Maps.google.com location.
