The name of Mary is on many of our churches and monasteries. Both carry the popular name of "Great Mother" (Assumption of Mary) while others in honor of the nativity of the Virgin Mary native carry the name "Little Mary". The church icons are from our famous master icon painter Dicho Zograf. So far the biggest four icons have been stolen twice. After the first time thieves were caught at the border and the icons were returned to the monastery. Unfortunately the second time thieves were successful. Instead of their place there are replicas now.

The monastery complex is a wonderful place despite the lonely little river Serava. Recently there is proposal and plan for a small reservoir which will mean major tourism promotion of the region as a place of untouched nature and beautiful monastery.
